SELP Global Presentations
The first grade SELP students prepared and gave presentations about their homes. They did an excellent job. I prefer doing small group presentations. With class presentations, it’s much easier to give each student an assessment, but each student can only present one time, and students will spend most of their time listening. With small group presentations, each student can present 3, 4 or even 5 times, and the students are much more active and engaged. This is also an opportunity for peer learning, as I encourage students to help each other.
The main goal is not on language accuracy, but rather on successfully communicating an idea. We go for quantity of language over quality, with the idea that, with practice, quality will come naturally in time.
