Here are the high school first graders in the writing class. They're writing answers to job interview questions.
They included "ten common interview questions", and "ten real interview questions that might surprise you."
Here are the high school first graders in oral communication class. They are asking and answering job interview questions.

Here are some pictures from my 8th Period Class. My class is supposed to be a test preparation class, but we played a game. The game involves making sentences. This is actually preparation for the section of some tests that require the students to put the words in the correct order. This game is very similar because it makes the students think about the order of ideas within a sentence and the functions of different words.
Some students found new uses for the word cards.

The first graders are working on a video project. They're making three short "films". The first was a martial arts competition (because these girls are so violent!). The second was a horror story about ghosts (because these girls like scary things!). The third was about buying presents for a friend's birthday (because these girls are also really kind!). Here are the photos from special projects.
We're doing an experiment with a blue tarp to see if we can bluescreen in a background. The tarp is too shiny, though. Ideally, we need a flat-board background in matte-green paint, and we need lights to keep the shadows off it ... but we do the best with what we have. Hopefully Final Cut Express can still give us a background.

Here are the first graders in oral communication class. They are doing small group presentations. In reading class we read "On Colonizing Education" by Chief Canasatego. In Oral Communication, the students did presentations about education. All of them chose the topic "The Future of Education". Small group presentations are different than class presentations because half of their grade is the presentation and the other half is based on asking questions.

Here are the latest pictures of NELP.
First, here are the 3rd Graders. They're working on their Public Service Announcement video project. I think they're going to go over the 90 second deadline, but that's okay. They're having a good time.
Here are the first graders studying before a quiz.
Here's a big blue tarp I bought. I'm planning to use it to do "bluescreening" techniques in my future videos. I replace the blue background with a different background. I can also overlay videos with it. This tarp is a bit too shiny, but it should work okay. Haven't tried it yet, though.

Here are the second graders having a debate. Their topic was "Should we stop using disposable chopsticks."
Here are the third graders. They're talking about invasive species in Japan. Today's topic was "How did these invasive species come to Japan and why?" I then had the students classify 160 invasive species according to the students' predictions on how and why they came or were brought to Japan. In the future, we'll do research and find out how accurate our guesses were, but on the whole, the students had a really amazing sense about the animals.
Here are the high school first graders. In today's lesson, we discussed business etiquette. Students demonstrated how to meet, greet, bow, shake hands, exchange business cards, go into a meeting room, introduce people, put someone on speaker phone, pose for photos and more. It was a very eventful class.
Next week in NELP:
The junior high school first graders will talk about the speech "On Colonizing Education" by Chief Canasatego.
