From this term my first grade students have been writing essays. Their first essay was a 250 word essay on the topic: Why Shouldn't We Get Angry?

The second was a 150 word essay on a past event from their life. The reason the second essay was shorter than the first was that there obviously wouldn't be as much to say. That said, one person wrote more than 3 times the assigned word count!
